Norwood, Ohio Cornerstone at Norwood Project

Graphics intensive, please let it load. It was a mild day today. The last house on the left side as you enter Dacey is now gone. All the houses are now gone. Only the 4 apartment buildings remain along with some tress. When I got there around 730a, the track hoe operator was trampling down the remains. I hate to see all this go. It brings back such great memories. I was 16 and well suffice it to say, those were the good old days for sure.

When I arrived this morning the house had already been leveled.

The track hoe operator was trampling down the remains.

The house with blue siding is leveled.

Another view. This place is larger than it looks.

Scooping away the debris for the landfill.

From this angle this area looks a lot bigger than what it did when all the houses were there.

I was putting my camera and cell phone away heard a noise, looked up and there was a truck coming at me...

This is standing on Garland Avenue where the 3 houses were. Two of them looked like a Taco Bell. They are all gone now. I sure hope they save those trees.

This looks so barren.

Coming up from Williams Avenue, everything is gone, even the dumpsters.

It's all pretty much leveled on this side now.

All the houses are now gone. Looks like track hoe operator has started on the trees down by the apartment buildings. Lehman's property is about to be history here.

There is a $1000 reward for vandals. It's very hard to tell any damage was done really. These buildings always looked like this.

This had to be the strangest thing I think I've seen in awhile. There were flowers all over 2669 Williams Avenue like a funeral. Upon closer examination, one card read something to the effect of sorry for your loss...Flowers were on the little roof, on the step and in the bush. That's my Honda Accord parked there.

FINALLY !! The building was open. I HAD to take a peak inside. Having lived in this very apartment 23 years ago, I think it might be my last time to look. That living room was maybe all of 10 x 12 feet if that. The kitchen was a walk thru (more like a drive by). I don't know when these were remodeled, but there were 8 units. He cut thru the kitchen to the other apartment and made it a 3 bedroom. Not much of an improvement really.

These were built in 1949. The whole building, all 8 units is 1774 sq ft !! That's 221.75 sq ft per unit !! This is the bedroom which is about big enough for a twin bed at most. Put in dresser and you're begging for floor space.

Here is a view from the bedroom into the bathroom. Landlord cut thru to the closet in the living room and made this another drive by.
